Digital Radiography
Digital radiography allows us to detect decay and bone loss. To take a digital X-ray, we will place a sensor near the tooth that looks like a piece of film. The process is much faster than a traditional X-ray system and eliminates the need to use harmful chemicals to process film. Most importantly, digital radiography can reduce radiation exposure levels by as much as 85%.
Once the picture is taken, our dentists can easily magnify; adjust the contrast, sharpness, and brightness to optimize diagnosis; and find even the smallest areas of decay. The X-rays are stored in your digital patient file, and can be brought up and viewed instantly at a later date. Another benefit of this technology is the ability to identify changes such as tooth movement; bone loss or growth; and even subtle changes in a restoration, filling, or root canal.
