(PRP) Platelet Rich Plasma

Accelerating the healing process.

What is PRP?

Frequently used in hospitals to accelerate the body’s healing process after surgeries, platelet rich plasma is a blood byproduct that encourages clotting and healing. Advances in technology have recently allowed the use of PRP in dental offices. This is a safe and convenient option that uses plasma drawn from your blood to assist in the healing process.

How and Why We Use PRP

Platelet rich plasma has been shown to improve healing for both hard and soft tissue. In our practice, we utilize PRP for numerous surgical procedures including; tooth extractions, bone grafting, sinus lifts, and ridge augmentation. Research has found that PRP can accelerate healing times, which lowers the risk of complications and improves outcomes. This procedure is both safe and convenient, as it uses a small amount of your blood which is collected in our office.

PRP Process

First, our SE Portland dentist will determine if you are a candidate for PRP. At your appointment, a small sample of blood will be collected. We then separate the plasma from the rest of the blood and concentrate the platelets into PRP. Once prepared, this beneficial tool will be used to benefit your surgical procedure.
