Mint Dental Works was founded in 2003 when Dr. McMillan took over the practice of a much beloved retiring dentist, Dr. Hinds.

What Sets Us Apart

We loved the history and quirkiness of our original space and the patients were fantastic, but the office’s most high-tech piece of equipment was an electric typewriter! The building’s diminutive 900 s.f. size could not support the practice’s continued growth nor accommodate the technology we believed was imperative to providing patients with exceptional care. In 2007, we moved Mint Dental Works to our current location. We’d like to think our new home, which is chock-full of salvaged and vintage materials, in some way pays homage to those purveyors of fine dentistry that paved the way for Mint to serve the community of Portland for nearly 100 years.

Warm, relaxed and beautiful

My first visit to Mint Dental Works today was extremely positive, friendly and unlike previous dental visits at other practices. Dr. Jason McMillan and his team were welcoming, professional, down to earth, thoughtful and engaging. From registration to x-rays and the examination, I felt comfortable – a first for me – and my normal fears dissipated. This was due to the high level of customer service and care taken by everyone who greeted me. Plus the surroundings are warm, relaxed and beautiful. Very friendly staff, immaculately clean office, state of the art…

Very friendly staff, immaculately clean office, state of the art equipment, eco-friendly environment, able to handle mercury removal, easy to schedule, never a long wait time, and... Netflix to keep you entertained while they do their thing – because you can never watch the same Star Trek movies over and over quite enough. My favorite dentist I’ve ever been to!

I've never liked a dentist practice enough to say much about it before. That was until I started coming to Mint Dental. I really can't express how great they are. The staff is awesome, the place is clean and nice and did I mention they have vibrating chairs and warm neck pillows? They make going to the dentist not so bad. I highly recommend! The Best Dental Experience Ever

If you're afraid of the dentist or just plain don't like going – go to Mint. They are all so friendly, professional, helpful, and go out of their way to be of service to you. From massage chairs to neck pillows to being able to watch your favorite show on Netflix while getting a cavity filled – they provide it all. Thanks, Mint, for ending my ten year long fear of dentists and making my teeth look and feel better than they ever have. Going to the dentist has never been so enjoyable. Clean Teeth!

It feels so good to leave the dentist with clean teeth. Also, they have nice gear (computerized x-ray cameras are great), hygienists seem experienced, and are generally skilled, fast, gentle, and focused. My daughter (age 6) actually gets excited when she has an appointment coming up – I don't know if it's the TV, the sweet attention she gets from the staff, or the trinkets they let her pick out at the end. Who am I kidding, it's probably all of the above. The team is really friendly, and they seem to have a solid, effective workflow going. I generally leave Mint feeling like I got really focused attention. The doctors seem really experienced, and genuinely happy to help. I'm happy to learn they are onboarding a woman dentist now, too.
